"Zibo BBQ" Lands in Vancouver: Fusing Culinary Delights and Cultural Essence

Vancouver, Canada, August 13, 2023 - The Canadian Fraser Volunteer Association (FVA) announced an exciting new cultural experience for Vancouverites: the Zibo BBQ Culture & Art Festival. A press conference was held at the North American Incubator in Richmond to unveil this gastronomic journey. FVA's President, Vickie Zhang, a Shandong-based entrepreneur and philanthropist, led the introduction.

Vickie Zhang explained that bringing Zibo BBQ to Vancouver represents FVA's commitment to supporting young Shandong entrepreneurs. "Zibo BBQ is not just about the delectable skewers, small buns, and scallions. It is also a heartfelt narrative of Shandong's cultural values of benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom, and integrity," she said.

Eric, the culinary mastermind behind Zibo BBQ, shared insights into the "soulful way" to enjoy the delicacies and presented a detailed development plan for the "Zibo BBQ Brand Strategy."

Co-organizer President of the Canadian Qilu Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Liu Zhaofang, sent a congratulatory message for the "Zibo BBQ" landing in Vancouver, Canada.

Co-organizer President of the Canadian Qilu Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Zheng Yan, said: "Shandong is also known as the land of Qilu, and Zibo was once the ancient capital of the Qi state, the birthplace of Qi culture. The globally popular Zibo BBQ has now come to Vancouver. As a chamber of commerce for people from Shandong, we at the Qilu Chinese Chamber of Commerce will fully support it. We hope that Zibo BBQ will prosper and flourish in Vancouver."

Vice President of the Canadian Qilu Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Wei Xiupeng, attended the event to show his support. He praised the contributions young people have made to Qilu's food culture.

Nick, the General Manager of Taylight Brewing, made a speech, stating that they would strongly support the barbecue event and sponsor the beer for September 3rd.

Mr. Zhuo Xiangwei, Chairman of the North American Venture Incubator, was present at the event. 

Film director and President of the Canada-China Drama Association, Ma Zijing, spoke to the media about the cultural and artistic activities planned for the barbecue festival. 

Event Collaborators and Sponsors

The event is co-organized by the Canadian Zibo BBQ and FVA, with assistance from the Canadian Qilu Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Support structures for the event include Canadian Snow Goose Media, Jiu Ge Culture of Canada, and the North American Venture Incubator. The Canadian Event Squad and Dr. Restaurant also contributed to the event.

The food is sponsored by Zibo BBQ Catering Culture Co. Ltd., while Taylight Brewing will provide beer sponsorships. Shopper+ Inc, an e-commerce giant, led by Leo, is the gift sponsor.

Morgan Laing from Taylight Brewing beer company was interviewed by the media, where he introduced the history and traditions of the brewery. 

Mr. Feng Zhaoliang, Deputy President of the Vancouver Martial Arts Academy and Korea Technical Institute Instructors Association, and senior coach in mixed martial arts (far right), Mr. Zeng Gengzun, former coach of the China Taekwondo National Team (center), and Ms. Wang Shuo, Women's Champion of the Taekwondo World Championships (far left), were present at the event to lend their support.

First-class chef from Zibo, James W., prepared a variety of Zibo snacks. 

This new endeavor promises a fusion of culinary innovation and cultural heritage, providing a platform for greater cultural understanding between Vancouver's diverse communities. The event aims to offer a slice of Shandong's rich history and values through its traditional barbecue, creating an immersive experience that caters to both the palate and the spirit.
