Nov 5, 2023

Richmond, November 5 — The Richmond Hospital Foundation was graced with a union of art and philanthropy at a charity dinner hosted by the Fraser Volunteer Association (FVA) of Canada. This event highlighted the deep connections between creative expression and community support.

At the gala, FVA president Ms. Hui Xin Zhang reflected on the profound impact of "Boundless," the last exhibition by the late renowned photographer Wen Yisha. Attended in the spring, the exhibit showcased Wen's ability to transcend time and space, capturing the essence of life and inspiring attendees with the power of art.

During his final exhibition on May 12, Mr. Wen announced the donation of his piece, "Silence & Stillness No. 1," to Ji Kong Space, the event organizers. The proceeds from the sale of this artwork were dedicated to the Richmond Hospital Foundation, affirming his support for medical professionals through artistic contributions.

Despite Mr. Wen’s passing shortly after the exhibition, his spirit of generosity continued to resonate, touching everyone involved. An anonymous admirer who purchased one of Wen’s pieces for charity at the exhibition chose to honor his legacy in both the arts and philanthropy.

The dinner served as a platform for Ms. Zhang and the FVA to inspire a continuation of Wen's philanthropic legacy, rallying community members to contribute enthusiastically. The event successfully raised $5,000 for the Richmond Hospital Foundation.
